Arne Jacobsen Ant Chair - By Fritz Hansen
Arne Jacobsen Ant Chairs have been melding form and function since they first appeared in the canteen of Danish pharmaceutical company Novo Nordisk in 1952. The Jacobsen Ant Chair ("Myren" in Danish) has a fitting name: the Ant Chair's silhouette resembles an ant with its head raised.
Arne Jacobsen designed the Ant Chair to be light, stable, and stackable. Jacobsen and manufacturer Fritz Hansen constructed the original Ant Chair with three plastic legs and a seat made from laminated veneer. Since then, however, Fritz Hansen has incorporated steel legs and also unveiled a four-leg Ant Chair.
