The chair was introduced by Hans J. Wegner as: "The Kastrup Chair" — although it was not only designed for use at airports. Through the 1960s and further through to the 1970s and 80th — the Kastrup Chair has been part of the interior of international airports, public offices, hotels and private homes in different versions and with different upholstery.

"First and foremost a chair must be comfortable and it must be cared for by the finest craftsmen and not least a chair must also be shaped well!"

These are simple characteristics, which Hans J. Wegner has always adhered to.
