Vilhelm Sofa

$9,680 USD

By Lassen is now relaunching Flemming Lassen's sofa design from 1935, naming it Vilhelm in honour of Flemming Lassen's father, the sign writer Hans Vilhelm Lassen. Vilhelm is a beautiful padded three-seater with the soft curves and taut expression that are typical of Flemming Lassen's design expression. The Danish architect and designer mastered the balance between the minimalist and the voluminous in designs that challenged conventions. A visionary modernist, Flemming Lassen created architecture and furniture that was ahead of their time.

The rounded corners frame the sofa perfectly and make it possible to place the sofa in the middle of a room. The shape invites flow and life to unfold around the sofa, and the stylish gentleman strikes a handsome figure, also when seen from the back. The back and armrest are tufted with a total of 24 little buttons, a beautiful and unpretentious detail that only makes the sofa more charming.

DENMARK'S MOST EXPENSIVE SOFA ON AUCTION
The sofa was designed and put into production the same year as Flemming Lassen's iconic easy chair The Tired Man, which holds the record as the most expensive easy chair ever sold at auction in Denmark. The sofa accepted the challenge, and in 2018, it fetched DKK 610,000, making it the most expensive sofa ever sold at a Danish auction. There is considerable interest in Flemming Lassen's design, both in Denmark and abroad. All over the world, design enthusiasts keep a close lookout for works by the Danish architect and designer, and his furniture is extremely highly rated.

Vilhelm has won the prestigious award the German Design Award 2021 in the category: Excellent Product Design.
